Tennis
About the Program
Tennis is a spring sport that runs from March to May. Regular season practices are held throughout the week at the Patrick Henry College (PHC) tennis courts. Practices consist of technical development, drills, and point play. Twelve athletes are added to the roster to compete against other teams a few times during the season.
All athletes are welcome! No prior experience is needed. For more information on the tennis program at ECS, please email Coach Edward Xin at edwardx7777@gmail.com.
2023-2024 Season
The ECS tennis team finished up their season with a team tournament. The co-ed roster consisted of eight eager Eagles looking to work on their serves, volleys, and overhead smashes. As they make preparations for next year, they hope to expand their roster and begin competing against other area schools.
About the Coaches
Coach Edward Xin comes from the Pacific Northwest where he grew up in Seattle, Washington. He has played tennis for nine years, including three years of high school varsity. He has competed at the national level in USTA Junior Team Tennis and the USTA League National Championships. He has coached for Tennis Outreach Programs and is really excited to be bringing tennis to an institution that treasures the Word of God.
Edward currently attends Patrick Henry College where he is pursuing a dual major in Economics & Business Analytics and Strategic Intelligence.
Coach Esteban Weesner hails from the great state of Texas, but moved around a lot growing up, even moving overseas. Growing up, he played tennis for several years as a part of a club team and later on played again in high school. He has coached basketball and soccer in the past, but this will be his second year coaching tennis at ECS.
Coach Esteban is super excited to coach tennis this year, but even more so to invest in these young believers' lives.
