Leading up to Pi Day, students competed in math-related challenges for the opportunity to win a chance to pie a math teacher in the face. These math-related challenges put their strength and skills to the test. From relays that involved solving equations, to competing to see who could hold out a math textbook for the longest, the competition was fierce. Once the big day arrived, our Math Department could hardly contain their enthusiasm, greeting students as they arrived at school, adorning them with an abundance of Pi Day swag, including π bracelets and temporary tattoos. Mrs. Austin and Ms. O-P even treated students to individual pies for lunch. The main event came at the end of lunch when several students were selected to throw a full-sized pie into the face of their favorite math teacher. But don’t worry, not a single math teacher was excluded. Turns out they love π so much, every one of them was more than happy for their students to realize how fun math can be.
