On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the ECS Concert Choir and Honors Choral Ensemble performed their first ever Fall Choral Concert at ECS.
The Concert Choir began the concert by singing “Soli Deo Gloria” a cappella from the balcony in the ECS lobby while the audience stood in the lobby to listen to this beautiful canon.
In the chapel they sang a choral setting of the poem “The Pasture” by Robert Frost, and a song in Spanish in the style of Cuban salsa featuring Clara Bloom on percussion. The Honors Choral Ensemble performed the fun, whimsical song “The Lobster Quadrille” from Alice in Wonderland and a beautiful arrangement of “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins.
The concert ended with an energizing jazz arrangement of the spiritual “Hold On” by the Honors Ensemble followed by a lively performance by the Concert Choir of “Trust in the Lord,” a gospel song incorporating Psalm 13:5-6, Proverbs 3:5-6, and the spiritual “I Will Trust in the Lord.”
After the concert, Dawson Kemp performed piano music in the chapel while guests enjoyed a creative, delicious assortment of fall refreshments generously provided by parents and the PTO.
