Now that we officially have alumni, ECS was able to host its first official Homecoming Week. Last year’s graduates were invited back on campus for an alumni chapel and breakfast, capped off by a Homecoming Game double header with our girls and boys varsity basketball teams. While three snow days cut the week short, current students were able to make it into school for a few spirit days, friendly class competitions, and a formal homecoming dance.
Each grade was tasked with creating a banner to display at the Homecoming game. After a great deal of collaboration, our students came up with some creative displays. In the end, the Sophomore class was awarded the prize for the best banner, winning a free homework pass for each 10th grader. Our Evergreen Christian Council planned the spirit days, featuring Pajama Day, ECS Spirit Day, and Through the Ages Day. Anything but a Backpack Day was the hit of the week, with students bringing creative alternatives for carrying books and supplies to school. One student brought a dishwasher in place of a backpack, another a Christmas tree, and one went so far as to bring her younger brother to carry her books!
